COLMA — A magnitude 2.5 earthquake jolted the Peninsula on Friday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The USGS reported the quake hit about 6:30 p.m. about 2.5 miles west-southwest of Colma.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The San Gregorio and San Andreas faults run through the region. In 1906, a magnitude 7.9 earthquake along the latter killed more than 3,000 people and destroyed 28,000 buildings.
