When the iOS audio-only app Clubhouse launched in beta mode in March 2020, people scrambled to get an invite, even spawning a virtual black market hawking invites for sale.
Between a combination of FOMO (fear of missing out) on the newest social-media platform and people simply longing for human connection due to widespread lockdowns and social-distancing restrictions, the app couldn’t have come at a better time.
Fourteen months since its inception, Clubhouse boasts over 10 million users, and after much anticipation recently launched on Android. From audio adaptations of “Lion King” and “Dreamgirls” to A-listers like Oprah and Elon Musk hopping on to chat, the app has seen many firsts.
And this weekend is no exception — when the app will host its first live wedding.
Natasha Grano and Michael Graziano will exchange vows and be legally wed in a Clubhouse chatroom tomorrow at 11 a.m. ET. Despite the ceremony being audio-only, Grano said she’ll wear a wedding dress, while Graziano will sport a tux.
Today, they’ll also meet in a Vancouver church for an in-person blessing, joined by an intimate group of family and friends.
